Strip of bobbin lace with a star in a heart-shaped shell and circle

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The original strip was used or intended for furnishing, on the short piece that has been preserved a part of the pattern is visible. The upper half of this pattern consists of a circle in which with a band a rhombus-shaped contour with rounded corners stands, with a star in the center. Under the circle the contour is made of a heart, whose curves pass into oblique lying C-volutes. In the center of the heart also a star stands, made with plaits. Along the bottom of the heart and the C-volutes a wide band is made, which forms the edge of the large lobed and heart-shaped shell. This band is as well as the band of the circle made with alternating linen stitch and net stitch. The narrower bands with which under other the rhombus, the heart and the C-volutes are formed, are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The motifs are connected to each other by a plaited ground of double and picoted plaits.
