Insert of bobbin lace with a continuous pattern of curved rose branches

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists on the midline of the strip of a slightly curved branch with one rose in the middle and several thick leaves. The ends of the successive branches overlap each other and thus form a continuous whole. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a round Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and cutouts in the flower hearts and the centre of the (flower) petals. The cutouts are decorated with overlapping pairs, the decoration in the flower hearts is made with a buttonhole stitch. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight. One short side is cut diagonally.
