Strip of bobbin lace with a row of diamonds and a wavy shell border

Strip of bobbin lace: strop lace. The repeating pattern consists of a row of diamonds made in linen stitch with an openwork center. At the top between the diamonds stand smaller diamonds in net stitch and at the bottom always an inverted V between the successive diamonds, also made in net stitch. The motifs are connected to each other by a strop trellis ground. The scalloped edge consists of a wavy or zigzagging path made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The top is finished straight. In the description made around 1933 of this strip it states that the common straight bottom at the strop lace in the 's Gravenmoerse lace school from the founding in 1914 was often replaced by a scalloped edge.
