Strip of bobbin lace with diamonds under a zigzag line

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Buckingham lace. The repeating pattern consists slightly above the center line of the strip of a zigzag line, with below it a series of linked diamonds. The motifs are connected at the top by a mesh ground, a net ground. The zigzag line and the center of each diamond are made in linen stitch, with a cutout in each diamond. Thick and shiny contour threads do not run directly around the solid work. They form an ornamental band of small circles and loops in the rose ground, which is applied here as an ornamental ground. The top side of the strip is finished straight. The shell edge along the bottom side is finished with picots.
