Strip of bobbin lace with standing ears of corn or "stående ax"

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Swedish lace. The strip is pinned to a light blue card, with four other strips. At the top of the card "Wadstena. Sweden." is written and under the strip "Standing Ears (stående ax)" is written. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a stylized ear of corn, which reaches straight upwards from the middle of a semi-circular shell, almost to the top of the strip. The ear of corn is built up from blocks, with a slanted block on both sides. Between the successive ears of corn in the hexagonal mesh ground alternate two and four knots. Along the scalloped lower edge runs a dense band, with some lines made with cut-outs. The motifs are made in linen stitch with contour threads. The knots are made in square stitch. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The shells are finished with picots.
