Strip of bobbin lace with drops under a zigzag line

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Buckingham lace. The repeating pattern consists over the middle of the strip of a zigzag line of linked small diamonds. Hanging below each zigzag is a drop-shaped cartouche. Above the zigzag line the strip consists of a mesh ground, a net ground, with fourfold puffs above each zigzag. The puffs are made in form stitch. Below the zigzag line an ornamental ground is applied, a rose ground. The diamonds in the zigzag and the frames of the drops are made in linen stitch with thick and shiny contour threads. A double contour thread is used around the outside of the drops, whereby the inner of the two threads makes loops through the linen work. The top side of the strip is finished straight. The shell edge along the bottom side originates from the drop-shaped cartouches and is finished with picots.
