About this work
Cast-iron fireplace plate with a semicircular top. In the center stands the coat of arms of Philip II, surrounded by a chain of the coats of arms of the Seventeen Provinces, or the Spanish Netherlands. At the top is an image of two hands shaking, with the year 1592 below. Two additional coats of arms are placed in the lower corners. Directly next to these coats of arms, the fireplace plate is marked with the initials GB.
