About this work

Stoneware jug on a high foot with a narrow neck, egg-shaped body, and a pinched spout in the rim. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and body. Partially covered with cobalt blue and manganese purple on the glaze. On the foot and neck, some incised lines. The jug is decorated with a relief decoration featuring vertical bands of stamped and applied floral motifs in blue and purple on a stippled ground on the body. On the neck, a rosette and two blue lines. Westerwald.
