Five Professions

Five glasses with depictions of professions in a wooden frame. The profession depicted is also always mentioned on the glass. Farthest to the left: 'tijkenen' (drawer), a drawer seated at a table by the window. To the right of that: 'smit' (smith), forging a long object at an anvil next to a fire. In the middle: 'ketel boeter' (cauldron-beater), seated by the window, striking a cauldron with a hammer. To the right of that: 'gout smit' (goldsmith), poking the fire with tongs. Farthest to the right: 'schoen maker' (shoemaker), with the shoe he is making on his lap. The images seem partly to go back to the prints Menselyk Bedryf by Jan and Caspar Luyken, but are not directly copied or traced from them. The depicted professions and the composition of the images deviate too much from the original prints.
