About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: old Flemish bobbin lace with plaited ground. The repeating pattern consists of a continuous wavy vine with in each wave valley an upward curling side branch with a flower and under each wave top a downward curling side branch with a flower. The motifs are connected to each other by a plaited ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, the bottom is provided with picots. The top edge is somewhat frayed due to damage.
