Strip of bobbin lace with two different cartouches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Binche lace. The pattern consists of an alternation of two different cartouches, with a loose rosette flower worked into the ornamentation in the center of one of them. From this cartouche a curved flower stem springs on both sides at the top, with the plume-shaped flower lying along the underside of the strip and cutting through the next cartouche. Under the curved flower stem a very sparse twig splits off on one side with rosette flower and on the other side with a tulip-shaped flower. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground, a five-hole ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and few cutouts. Two different ornamental grounds are used in the cartouches, both with snowflakes. Top and bottom are finished straight, with the underside provided with picots.
