About this work

In an interior, a family celebrates the Feast of Saint Nicholas. The father sits by the hearth reading; behind him, two daughters show their dolls they have received. On the floor, a child snacks from a bowl of cookies and sweets. To the left, a crying boy who has received only a stick; the maid behind him has his shoe with the stick inside.
