About this work

Of the two men sitting on the ground, the man on the left has his legs crossed in a tailor's position. He wears a high-drawn loincloth (veshti, lungi) and a wide wrap cloth (chadar) around his upper body. The man next to him leans against his neighbor, bent forward with bare legs drawn up. He also has a wrap cloth wrapped around his shoulders and arms. The hair of both men is closely shaved and they have no beard growth. Given their clothing and hairstyle, they are likely workers from South India. Sheet 101 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets.
