Two labourers outside, one standing and one sitting

Outdoors, on uneven terrain, two men are drawn. The standing man on the left wears a hip cloth (veshti, lungi) pulled up above his knees and is otherwise completely wrapped in a shawl (chadar). Only the fingers of his left hand and his head protrude from it. On the right, sitting on a wooden beam (or stone), is a man. He wears only a hip cloth, pulled up above the knees. The folds hang up and next to the sitting beam. His upper body and arms are bare. The clothing points to an origin in South India or Jaffna. The men were probably executed in Colombo for the reconstruction. Sheet 82 from a sketchbook of 117 sheets.
