Three Sinhalese women outdoors by the road. Each wears a wrap skirt (redda), pleated in the Sinhalese manner and fastened at the waist. Above this they wear a wide Portuguese blouse with a V-neck and long sleeves (hatte). The hair of the woman on the left is parted in the middle and pulled back into a bun (condé). Her pierced earlobes are stretched. She carries an empty basket in her right hand. The middle woman has the same hairstyle. Over her hands resting on her lap hangs a cloth, possibly her headscarf.
