About this work
Two women standing outdoors side by side. Both are dressed in a foot-long pleated wrap skirt (redda), the ends of the pleats fastened at the waist in a local manner. Above this they wear a short, wide Portuguese blouse with long sleeves (hatte). The blouse of the woman on the left shows a flap at the neck: the V-neck cut and folded back. She wears her hair pulled tightly back and pinned up with combs in a bun (condé). The woman on the right also wears her hair in the same manner. The women are Sinhalese or Eurasian. Leaf 32 from a sketchbook with 117 leaves.
