Two women

Two women – Ceylonese or Eurasian. Possibly the same woman, but drawn in two different poses. Both women wear a wrap skirt (redda) in the Ceylonese style, with the pleats pinned at the front of the waist. Above this, they wear a wide Portuguese blouse with a V-neck and long sleeves (hatte). In the woman on the left, the 'collar' of the blouse folded back is visible (= the neckline cut out at the front). The head is not visible, but a long headscarf hangs down over the left shoulder. The woman on the right wears a smaller headscarf. Sheet 40 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets.
