About this work
In an interior, of which a corner of two walls is visible, an Eurasian woman and a girl sit on a rolled-out mat or carpet. Both are drawn from the right side. The woman on the left, in a cross-legged position, combs the hair of the girl sitting in front of her in a tailor's position. The woman holds a comb in her left hand. She wears a wrap skirt (redda) and a Portuguese blouse with a V-neck and long sleeves (hatte); her hair is tied back in a bun (condé). The girl also wears a wrap skirt and a blouse with long sleeves. Her long hair is combed back into a braid. Leaf 60 from a sketchbook with 117 leaves.
