About this work

Outdoors, on the ground, a man sits on the left with knees drawn up, his right arm resting on a knee. To his right lies another man, also with his back to the artist. Both wear knee-length hip-cloths (veshti, lungi). Both men have short hair. The lying man rests his head on a folded cloth. The artist paid particular attention to the muscular back of the sitting man. Given the clothing and hairstyle of the men, they are probably from South India or Jaffna and employed in Colombo for reconstruction work. Sheet 7 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets.
