Three labourers in conversation

Outside on the ground, two men sit talking, a third man stands listening. On the left we see the standing man, drawn obliquely from behind. It could be the same man who was depicted sitting from behind on the previous leaf (62). Here too, the hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) reaching to the knee is mainly visible, and the shawl (chadar) wrapped around his torso, shoulders, and arms. He wears a headscarf or cap wound around his head in the same way. On the left of the center, a man sits on the ground with knees drawn up. He wears a hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) tucked up above the knee. His torso is bare. With his head turned, he looks over his left shoulder at the man sitting next to him. He wears a headscarf. The visible earlobe appears stretched. The man sitting on the right wears a tucked-up hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) and a shawl (chadar) around his shoulders and back. His bare left forearm rests with the elbow on his knee.
