About this work
The lock plate is engraved with a signature and decoration in bas-relief against a scratched background, including a laurelled male head and a Classical warrior; a projection in the form of a fish is attached to the front; the interior is marked with an H. The barrel is drawn with many grooves and decorated with chasing, including a grotesque mask amidst foliage, partially in brass, as is the ring on the breech of the barrel; the breech is decorated in relief on top with an acanthus leaf, a same, but smaller leaf serves as a rear sight; marked at the rear with a small stamp of Utrecht. The stock is carved with leafy tendrils.
