Flintlock pistol

The formerly gilded, yellow copper lockplate is engraved with foliage, signed and stamped on the inside with a G; the rest of the lock is of iron, the cock is blued. The barrel of formerly gilded yellow copper has a blued tail engraved with acanthus leaves, a copper front sight bead and is stamped at the top and bottom with the coat of arms of Utrecht. The stock is carved with, among other things, scrollwork. The gilded, yellow copper mount with chased relief decoration consists, among other things, of a screw plate in the form of a snake with openwork leafy tendrils, a heart-shaped, crowned tumbler plate framed by partly openwork leafy tendrils with a small head on both sides, and a buttplate with triangular, engraved panels, making the background look like a row of diamonds and with at the bottom a mask on an octagonal base; the ramrod is fitted with a yellow copper cap.
