About this work

The lock is chased in relief with foliage; the recessed tail has a band inlaid with brass and is engraved with the maker's signature; the interior of the lock plate is marked with IL. The barrel is chased with foliage and partially inlaid with brass, the breech is decorated with acanthus leaves; grooved for a rear sight, the front sight is of brass; marked on top with the coat of arms of Utrecht and at the bottom with the coat of arms of Amsterdam. The stock is carved with, among other things, leafy tendrils.
