About this work

Flintlock pistol with battery lock. Round barrel of bright steel. At the muzzle of the barrel is a decoration of applied and engraved acanthus leaf motifs in brass. Long brass front sight bead. At the top of the lock are decorations in brass and steel, consisting of a warrior walking to the left, holding a spear in his right hand and his left hand on a sword hanging from a belt. He wears a headgear with feathers. Above this figure is a brass acanthus leaf motif. Below this figure is a beam, interrupted by a half-moon; below that a monster head with acanthus leaf ornament. Acanthus leaf motifs, carved in steel, on the lock near the tailpiece, Utrecht mark. Engraved on the barrel: "Le Bon Werdmüller, de son temps l'espoir" "En culbulant l'Ennemi" "Nous procura la Gloire" "Et sauva sa patrie" "1709 Eugène". Lock: Flint battery lock with flat lock plate. Decoration of volute-like twisted leaves and vine ornaments, in low relief between the cock and the pan.
