Cavalry helmet or mantel helmet. The helmet is made of polished iron and fitted with a comb filed to imitate hair; at the rear an openwork plume socket is attached; the visor is pointed and has a long lifting lever on the right side; on both sides is a large rivet in the form of a flower cup; the faceplate is openwork carved on both sides with four hearts around a small circle with 16 small circles around it; the rear hook has an extra eyelet for a leather lace that made it easier to open the hook with gloves on; this cavalry helmet has a push-button or lifting lever to hold the visor up instead of a visor support; the edges of the helmet are decorated in the same manner as the comb and further with a double incised line, and set off with round rivets. The appearance and manufacture of the helmet are very Dutch; a typically Dutch element is the decoration of the edges, which gives you eyebrows as it were.
