Thaise ridderorde (Orde van de Witte Olifant), ontvangen door Willem Drees

Box upholstered in red velvet with the insignia of the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Elephant, Kingdom of Thailand, awarded to Prime Minister W. Drees. The insignia consist of a breast badge with accompanying sash and star. The breast badge has a flower-shaped form with eight large and eight smaller points between them. The medallion shows a golden, white-enamelled elephant facing right with a saddle, standing on a pedestal, on a golden ground, surrounded by diamond-set silver, encircled by a floral wreath of alternating red and green enamelled points; the reverse shows in the medallion red letter-like figures and is otherwise identical to the obverse. The breast badge hangs with two wing-like ornaments on a pagoda-like structure (a crown?) topped with an oval filled with snake-like forms.
