About this work

A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at the fork of the fork (musket fork) on which the barrel rests. With his right hand he brings a burning match to his mouth to blow it clean. This print is part of the series of 43 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
