About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand. With his thumb and middle finger of his right hand, he places the lit match onto the cock (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket in the correct position and shape. This print is part of the series of 42 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
