Model of a Coastal Defence Vessel

Block model of the hull with round timber, incomplete. The smooth-sided vessel has twelve gun ports on the open upper deck, a straight falling stem and a round stern with a vertical sternpost. Straight rudder with rudder quadrant and brass helm, steering wheel with drum by Wesselinck, keel with keel block. All deck equipment is worked out in the utmost detail, such as anchor, stoppers, pumps, clamps, rigging lines, loose conveniences and gratings. The broad hull has the shape of a peaked round frame combined with a flat sheer, a barkwood and a deerwood. The round timber is that of a two-masted gaff schooner without gaffs (loose brooking) and with a jib. Scale 1:40 (derived).
