Time Fuse in a Box and a Model of a Torpedo

Time-firing mechanism in a round brass case, closed on one side with a blind flange with leather gasket on which an inscription. The time-firing mechanism itself consists of a flintlock with clockwork. The cock, which is constantly kept under tension by the mainspring on the tumbler in the foot, is held back by a lever (the rod) which is forged into a hook on the head of the cock; thus the tumbler and the rod are separated. The rod is held in place with an extension that rests on a disc with a notch. This disc is mounted on a spring barrel and rotates under the influence of the clockwork: when the notch reaches the extension of the rod, it tilts and the cock is released. A locking mechanism is attached to the side of the case: a pin that protrudes through the side presses a spring against a gear wheel at the foot of the spring barrel and thus locks the clockwork.
