23-cm Segment Shell in a Wooden Box

About this work
A half longitudinal cut-pointed 23 cm shell, in a wooden crate. The shell is 51.8 cm long and has a caliber of 226 mm. It has two rings of bronze driving bands for a rifled barrel with six rifling grooves. The nose has a fuze hole. The shell is hollow: the bursting charge is surrounded by thirteen outer segment rings, in which nineteen inner segment rings, cemented together with lead. The inserted base is also secured with lead rings.
