About this work

Chart of the east coast of Brazil, with two compass roses, North lying to the right. In the upper center the title and publisher's address, flanked by a man with arrow and bow and a man with a shield and a sword. In the lower right the scale, shown in German, Spanish and English or French miles (scale: c. 1:400,000). Near the scale are a mermaid, a sea god and young mermaids, one of whom is examining a pilgrim's staff.
