About this work
On the left, the patriarch Zebulun, the tenth son of Jacob. He is dressed as a fisherman. On the ground beside him an anchor. In the background the sea and a beach, a reference to Zebulun's dwelling place. On the right, the patriarch Issachar, the ninth son of Jacob. Beside him lies a donkey, a reference to Issachar as a 'strong donkey' who 'bore his burden'. Each image has a Latin inscription, and the sheet contains the fifth and sixth print from a series on the twelve patriarchs of Israel.
