About this work
Islamic galley slaves carry the sail of a ship onto the quay. These enslaved men are identifiable as Muslims by the characteristic hairstyle (shaved head except for a tuft) which they were required to have. Two sailors look on. One of them holds his stick threateningly in his hand. To the rear right, two galleys sail.
