About this work
Muslim galley slaves carry a ship's sail onto the quay. These enslaved men are identifiable as Muslims by the characteristic hairstyle (shaved head except for a tuft) they were required to wear. Two sailors watch over them. One of them holds his stick threateningly. In the background to the right, two galleys sail.
