About this work
Muslim galley slaves are carrying the sail of a ship onto the quay. These enslaved men are identifiable as Muslims by their characteristic hairstyle (shaved head except for a tuft) which they were obliged to wear. Two sailors are supervising. One of them is threateningly holding his stick in his hand. In the background to the right, two galleys are sailing.
