About this work
Emblem with an allegory of poetry depicted as a man with a scroll and pen, wearing a laurel wreath. The eagle illustrates the flight that poetry can take in the poet, as the poem below the image states. In the landscape, the Muses sit on Mount Parnassus while Apollo plays his harp and Pegasus flies past. The poem continues on the verso.
