About this work
Page from a book (p. 29) with text on the verso. In an oval cartouche two fighting children are being beaten with a stick by their father. On the right spectators watch and comment on the scene. Above the cartouche the title (motto) of the print and a quote from the Bible (Hebrews 12:6). Below the print an inscription: 'Kastijdt uw kindt dat ghy bemindt' and a description explains: a father catches his child fighting and beats him black and blue while the other child is left alone. God punishes the children he cares for most.
