About this work
Page from a book (p. 63) with text on the verso. In an oval cartouche a man with a rapier seeking refuge in a church. In the background an armed mob around a corpse. Above the cartouche the title (motto) of the print and a quote from the Bible (Psalm 45:1, now Psalm 46:2). Below the print an inscription: 'Het is hier vry: Wat vreesde ghy?' and a description that explains the print. Even if one has committed a mortal sin like murder, one can always entrust oneself to God.
