About this work
Allegorical representation on the occasion of the marriage of Jacob Dircksz van Lennep and Susanna Catharina de Wolff. The marriage god Hymen and Amor are at the couple's marriage bed. To the right is the river god of the IJ and to the left the water nymph of the Amstel. Above the scene are fabrics, a spinning wheel, and the motto: *Ne timeas et casta thorus tua numina servat*.
