Reason and Man Perform Good Works / Man Abandoned by His Good Works

Two biblical allegories in architectural framing. To the left the personification of Reason and Man carry the personification of Good Works on a bier, as in a procession. Man's trust in Good Works indicates his godlessness. To the right Man is attacked by personifications of Sin and Eternal Death, while he is abandoned by the personification of Good Works, dressed as a nun and with the pilgrim attributes of scallop shell and staff.
