About this work
Two biblical allegories in architectural framing. To the left Christ climbs the cross with a ladder and carries Sin on his back, behind him the Devil. Next to the cross stands John the Baptist, pointing at Christ, next to him some prophets. To the right the personification of Faith shows Man the way to God the Father. At the top of the way the crucified Christ, above him God the Father. Below both representations a four-line verse in Dutch and a four-line text in Latin. Number 21 and 22 from a Reformation series on the sinfulness and justification of man.
