About this work
Deucalion and Pyrrha stand in the water of a great flood that has devastated the earth. In the center they kneel before an oracle in a temple. They are advised by the oracle to throw stones behind them. On the left in the foreground they do so. The stones turn into children. Below the image the text from Ovid's Metamorphoses, Book 1, verses 411-414. In the upper left corner the sign of the ram from the zodiac. The print is part of an album.
