About this work

Two pages with 9 pasted and labeled (78-84) samples of decorative strips of gold-colored metal paper on the left. Decorative strips with figurative representations: roses, oak leaves, a hunting scene, and a classical representation of a woman attended by her maids. On the opposite right page, a table with handwritten corresponding specifications (in code) per ornament. Part of the sample book donated by the Van Rijn ladies, presumably from a French manufacturer of luxury papers, or his representative in the Netherlands, ca. 1830.
