About this work

Two pages with 5 pasted and labeled (96-149) samples of decorative strips of gold- and silver-colored metal paper on the left. Decorative strips with figurative representations: roses (fragment) and classical representations of a woman attended by her maids, and of swans and figures by a fountain. On the opposite left page, a table with handwritten corresponding specifications (in code) per ornament. Part of the sample book donated by the Van Rijn ladies, presumably from a French manufacturer of luxury papers, or his representative in the Netherlands, ca. 1830.
