About this work
Naphtali, the sixth son of Jacob. Next to him a deer, an attribute referring to Naphtali's speed. To the right the statue of Mercury, god of eloquence. All attributes refer to Jacob's blessing of Naphtali in Genesis 49. The print is part of a series on the twelve sons of Jacob and patriarchs of Israel and has a Dutch and Latin inscription.
