About this work
Admiral Maarten Tromp, fallen in the naval battle at Terheide on August 10, 1653, riding in a triumphal chariot drawn over the sea by horses and accompanied by tritons. In his hands a trident and a ship's rudder. In the air Fame with two trumpets and three cherubs. An angel crowns Tromp with a burgomaster's crown. In the caption four four-line verses.
