About this work

Canto Thirty from 'Orlando Furioso'. After riding for days without rest or food, Ariosto's horse dies. With a shepherd, Ariosto tries to exchange the dead animal for a healthy specimen. When the shepherd refuses, Ariosto beats his brains out.
