Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Mathilda kneeling before an altar, top right Saint Longinus kneeling in armor and with a spear, bottom left a saint bound to a pole (Cyriacus, Largus or Smaragdus of Rome) having boiling water or boiling oil poured over his head, bottom right Saint Heribert in bishop's clothing at a building. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are always printed on one sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, there are in total 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut in the third state into 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
