Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Dionysius of Paris with his head in his hands, top right Patriarch Abraham about to sacrifice his son, bottom left Saint Gereon of Cologne with his companions busy with weapons and armor, bottom right Saint Probus and Saint Andronicus being stabbed with knives or daggers. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 depictions). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints and issued with a separate title page.
